Jake Bailey of the Miami Dolphins has tied the knot! The NFL athlete exchanged vows with his long-term partner, Bailey Medeiros, at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The ceremony was attended by 130 guests, including notable figures like Denver Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham and Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders. “It’s more than just a wedding,” Medeiros shared with PEOPLE, emphasizing that it’s the beginning of their forever amidst the people who matter most, in a setting that feels almost unreal.
With Bailey’s roots in San Diego and Medeiros’ family hailing from Massachusetts, any location chosen would require travel for attendees. Thus, they opted for a destination wedding, selecting Cabo San Lucas, a place fondly remembered by Bailey’s family from their 2021 vacation. Medeiros expressed her excitement to PEOPLE about celebrating with guests from their different circles, many meeting for the first time, and creating cherished memories.
The festivities commenced with a white-themed welcome party the evening prior, symbolizing the union of their two worlds. Medeiros dazzled in a black and white strapless gown by Alice + Olivia, while Jake sported white pants with a black, short-sleeved button-down. The following day, guests adhered to a “coastal neutrals” dress code, complementing the décor of white flowers, and neutral and champagne accents.
Medeiros walked down the aisle to an instrumental rendition of “A Thousand Years,” with hair styled by Los Cabos Makeup and makeup by Erica Wright of Glam Done Wright. The bride, an attorney with her own estate planning firm, Bailey Legacy Law, was stunning in a strapless mermaid gown by Berta, featuring a delicate bow and a long train. She reminisced about her dress selection journey at Chic Parisien in Miami, ultimately choosing the gown that lingered in her thoughts.
At the altar, the couple exchanged “heartfelt” handwritten vows, allowing their loved ones to feel their shared love. The ceremony was conducted by the groom’s grandfather, Richard Allsing, a retired pastor. Medeiros highlighted their shared dreams and mutual inspiration, emphasizing their teamwork and support for each other.
Their first dance, choreographed to “Weight of Your World” by Chris Stapleton, concluded with a spectacular fireworks display over the ocean. For the reception, Medeiros transitioned into her mother’s wedding dress, which was reimagined into a short, strapless party outfit with detachable sleeves and a bubble skirt.
“The transformation process was a special experience with my mom,” Medeiros recounted, detailing her visits to New Hampshire to collaborate with designer Arnaldo Joseph.
Guests enjoyed a three-course plated dinner, featuring an heirloom tomato salad with whipped burrata and sourdough, followed by roasted red snapper and seared beef tenderloin. Dessert included a tangerine mousse with roasted pineapple, almond crumbs, coconut ice cream, and pieces of Waldorf-Astoria red velvet cake.
Medeiros and Bailey’s love story began in Boston in September 2019, shortly after Medeiros relocated for her first year at Boston University School of Law, and Bailey joined the New England Patriots after being drafted.
