“He did enough to hold off Lamar Jackson” – NFL analyst breaks down why Josh Allen deserves MVP over Ravens star..anhtruc.

Only one week remains in the 2024 NFL regular season, but the MVP race is still too close to call. Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens are the frontrunners to take home the coveted prize. However, neither has emerged as the favorite and most voters are still split between the two.

But Chris Broussard believes they shouldn’t. The analyst believes that Allen deserves to be named the MVP. On Fox Sports First Things First, he said:

“He did enough to hold off Lamar like he’s going to win it,” Broussard said. “I think we all feel pretty confident, I think that he’s going to win it.” [ From 0:09]

Broussard claimed that not only the Bills superstar should be ahead of Jackson in the MVP voting but also Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who became the ninth player to rush for 2,000 yards during his team’s 41-7 win over the Cowboys Sunday.

“[In my criteria] So Josh does come out ahead,” Broussard added. “Individual stats, Lamar has got that number one. Then Saquon. Team success, obviously, Josh and Saquon tie for that. So I gave them each two points. Supporting cast. Josh, he’s a one-man show. He’s got that. He wins that.” [From 1:29]

Lamar Jackson for MVP: Chris Broussard’s interesting observation about award’s history

Chris Broussard claimed that the other reason he believes Lamar Jackson won’t win the MVP award is a lack of playoff success.

“Historical precedent, Lamar is last [in the MVP race between the trio],” Broussard pointed out. “Because a lot of guys that have won, all the guys that have won at least two MVPs, none of them won their third, or at least three MVPs, none won their third before winning a championship.” [From 1:45]

Only six players have won the MVP award three or more times. Among them, Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas, and Aaron Rodgers had already won the Super Bowl or the NFL championship before winning the coveted prize for the second time in their career.

Brett Favre was named MVP in 1995 and 1996, won the Super Bowl at the end of the 1996 season and completed a hat trick of wins in the 1997 campaign. Broussard’s theory applies to Peyton Manning and Jim Brown.
