Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy has tragically died at the age of 24. He was discovered deceased on Saturday evening in Houston, with multiple sources suggesting his passing may be a suicide. Earlier this year, in January, Lacy faced charges for negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run resulting in death, and reckless driving.
According to WBRZ, a grand jury was scheduled to review Lacy’s case on Monday. Lacy had declared for the NFL Draft in December, following a season where he recorded 58 receptions, 866 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Upon hearing the news, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott expressed his feelings on Sunday morning through an Instagram story, emphasizing the importance of seeking help. Prescott, who tragically lost his brother Jace to suicide in 2020, posted, “Please!!! Ask 4 help.
It doesn’t have to end that way! It takes all of US!” Prescott has been a staunch advocate for mental health, utilizing his platform to support those battling mental health issues. His “Faith. Fight. Finish. Foundation” prioritizes mental health and suicide prevention among its core missions.
In 2024, Eduardo Flores, the NFL international fan of the year, credited Prescott during last year’s NFL Draft, saying he “wouldn’t be standing here without Dak Prescott.”
In a 2020 conversation with interviewer Graham Bensinger, Prescott reflected on his brother’s passing, stating, “It taught me the importance of vulnerability and openness as humans.” He added, “Our challenges and struggles can often feel overwhelming to handle alone but sharing them with loved ones and a supportive community makes them more manageable.”
