Heartbreaking: WATCH: DeMarvion Overshown returned to his community to give away bikes to kids days after knee surgery-bb

Knee surgery didn’t stop DeMarvion Overshown from being Santa Claus this holiday season.

A daycare and preschool in Tyler – which is east of Dallas and west of Shreveport, Louisiana, was full of Christmas cheer thanks to the Dallas Cowboys linebacker

“When I say I travel everywhere with my community with me, I do,” Overshown said. “The NFL season has about average nine, 10 away games, and I guarantee my city is going with me. So, when I say that love and that support is felt everywhere, it makes me wanna go out there and work harder.”

The 24-year-old is from Tyler, where he attended Arp High School. He was a member of the Texas Longhorns until the Cowboys drafted him in the third round (90th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.

In Week 14, he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL against the Cincinnati Bengals. Before the devastating season-ending injury, he had one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, five sacks, and 90 combined tackles in 13 games (12 starts).

He’s already had surgery and begun rehab, but that didn’t stop him from going to his charity event.

“I want to inspire whether that’s on or off the field and give back whether that’s on or off the field,” he said. “And coming home — especially doing it at home — it feels even more special, and then around this year, just giving back whatever I can to help a family or to make a child smile. That’s what I’m all about.”

He gave away 20 bikes at Kid City USA. Children who received a bicycle also got a helmet, athletic shoes, and a water bottle.

The Cowboys are 7-8 and despite winning four of their last five games, have already been eliminated from the playoffs this season. They have been plagued with injuries this season, in addition to Overshown, they also lost star quarterback Dak Prescott and cornerback Trevon Diggs, among others.
