The Houston Texans won a playoff game for the second straight year, but are looking to get into the next tier of teams who can be considered real Super Bowl contenders. In my latest mock, they acquire a superstar receiver to get them there.
Round 1, Pick 25: OL Grey Zabel, North Dakota State
Zabel had a great week in Mobile during Senior Bowl practices. While he is listed as a tackle, he would likely be kicked inside to guard to take care of the Texans’ looming interior issues.
Round 2, Pick 57: G Tate Ratledge, Georgia
Continuing to revamp the offensive line, the Texans take one of the best guards in the nation.
Round 3, Pick 89: TRADE
- Seattle Seahawks receive: 2025 third-round pick, 2026 fourth-round pick
- Houston Texans receive: WR DK Metcalf
Metcalf’s production took a dip in the Seahawks’ new offense in 2024. A fresh start for the two-time Pro Bowler would make sense for him, and for Seattle who will look to enter somewhat of a rebuild. Their loss is Houston’s gain as they add a true gamebreaker on the outside opposite of Nico Collins.
Round 4, Pick 125: DT Shemar Turner, Texas A&M
Turner had a good week in Mobile and would be a great body to put in between Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter.
Round 5, Pick 167: LB Jay Higgins, Iowa
Higgins is one of the most well-rounded linebackers in the draft. He has an argument of being the best coverage linebacker in this class, but is also a good pass rusher up the middle and stuffs the run well.
Round 7, Pick 243: TE Bryson Nesbit, North Carolina
Nesbit is a good receiving threat tight end that could turn out to be a potential replacement for Dalton Schultz when the time comes.
