Jason Kelce stands firm on the “tush push” controversy despite calls for a ban from the Buffalo Bills owner.

Jason Kelce isn’t backing down from his stance in the ongoing discussion about the infamous “tush push” play—that now-iconic rugby-style shove that the Philadelphia Eagles have mastered to perfection. When Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula cited Kelce’s past comments as part of an argument to ban the maneuver, Kelce was quick to set the record straight.

During this year’s general NFL meeting, both the Green Bay Packers and the Buffalo Bills led the charge to outlaw the play, citing player safety concerns. Pegula, focusing on Kelce’s previous description of the play as “grueling,” argued it was dangerous.

However, Kelce took to social media to clarify, stating that his use of the word “grueling” did not equate to the play being unsafe. He confidently proclaimed, “If the NFL wishes to summon me for legitimate thoughts on the tush push under oath, I’d be glad to give my testimony.”

Jason Kelce Blasts Bills Owner On His Tush Push Ban Stance

Kelce’s response was aimed squarely at Pegula, though it was Packers president Pat Murphy who originally quoted him in a manner suggesting the play’s supposed dangers. According to Murphy, Kelce had reportedly said he was relieved not to be involved in the play anymore due to its riskiness—a claim Kelce contests. The Inquirer noted that Pegula had also made light of Kelce’s comments, although it was Murphy who went on record with them.

Kelce’s relationship with the Bills—and Pegula in particular—hasn’t exactly been warm, something that’s continued post-retirement. His brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has been part of several high-stakes games against the Bills, with the Chiefs often having the last laugh.

One memorable victory came during the 2023 postseason when Travis found the end zone in the Divisional Round, helping the Chiefs to another Lombardi Trophy. During that time, Jason Kelce even braved the freezing conditions in Buffalo, adding a layer of personal involvement to this competitive rivalry.

Ever since hanging up his cleats, Jason Kelce hasn’t shied away from ruffling feathers in Buffalo, especially those of Pegula, and he shows no signs of letting up. As the debate over the “tush push” carries on, Kelce remains a central and vocal figure, unafraid to give his thoughts on and off the field.
