Jerry Jones Praises Jayden Daniels, Admits Facing Him “Makes Me Sick”

A Brutally Honest Take from the Cowboys Owner

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is never one to hold back his thoughts, and during the 2025 NFL Honors on Thursday night, he gave a brutally honest answer about Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

When asked about the young star while strolling the red carpet, Jones didn’t sugarcoat his feelings.

“I get sick when I think about how the Cowboys have gotta play him twice a year for the rest of his career,” Jones admitted.

Respect for a Rising Star

Despite his frustration at having to face Daniels in the NFC East for years to come, Jones couldn’t help but praise the quarterback’s talent.

“We played him pretty good in Washington, and we played him pretty good for a half when we faced him in Dallas. But he’s a great talent—unique.

Jones even acknowledged his appreciation for Washington as a football city.

“I’m glad to have him in the National Football League… I like the idea of competing against the Commanders for years ahead. I’m a big fan of Washington as a great football town, and anything that strengthens that, I’m all for.”

A Phenomenal Rookie Season

Jones’ comments came after Daniels put together an outstanding rookie campaign in 2024. The young quarterback finished his debut season with:

  • 3,568 passing yards
  • 25 passing touchdowns
  • 891 rushing yards
  • 6 rushing touchdowns

Even more impressively, Daniels led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game, where they fell short against the Philadelphia Eagles.

His stellar performance throughout the season earned him the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, which he accepted at the NFL Honors on Thursday night.

A Rivalry to Watch for Years to Come

With Daniels now cemented as a franchise quarterback, the Cowboys-Commanders rivalry is set to reach new heights in the coming years. While Jones might feel “sick” about facing him twice a season, there’s no doubt that fans can expect some electric matchups ahead.

For now, one thing is clear—Jayden Daniels has the full attention of the Cowboys’ owner, and he’s just getting started.
