Alexander Zverev has the ability to beat any player in the world on any day. He has come close to his first Grand Slam for the third time and will be meeting Jannik Sinner in the summit clash of the Australian Open on Sunday (January 26).

Zverev reached the final without much effort as an injury forced World No.7 and 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic to retire from the semifinal clash after the first set. In the second semifinal, Sinner outclassed 21st seed Ben Shelton in straight sets.

Sinner has won just two of the six matches he played against Sascha and former player Jim Courier is foreseeing a grueling five-set battle between the two.

Sinner registered his second win over the German last year when they met in the semifinal of the Cincinnati Masters. The Italian had to toil hard throughout the match to beat the World No.2 with scores of 7-6(9), 5-7, 7-6(4).

While Zverev, now a three-time Grand Slam finalist, is searching for his first Major, the 23-year-old has already clinched two Majors last year, the Australian Open and the US Open.

Jannik Sinner played his first official match of the 2025 season at the Australian Open and had a smooth campaign except for his fourth-round clash with Holger Rune, during which he battled some illness.

Alexander Zverev, on the other hand, except for his quarterfinal clash with Tommy Paul, breezed past other opponents. As he will be bidding to win his first Grand Slam title, Sinner is expecting nothing but a thrilling contest.

Sinner won the title at Melbourne Park last year with a five-set win over Daniil Medvedev, who in the semifinal, came from two sets down to knock out Zverev.
