Jordan Addison named as a potential trade target for top AFC team..ANHTRUC.

The Vikings don’t seem at all inclined to trade Jordan Addison, but that wouldn’t stop someone from calling.

However overshadowed by the starring glow of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison has been a fine No. 2 wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings over two seasons since being taken 23rd overall in the 2023 draft. More than fine, actually, with 19 receiving receiving touchdowns (tied for third-most in the league over the last two seasons).

That said, Addison has had a couple off-the-field hiccups. In July of 2023, he was cited for speeding and reckless driving in St. Paul, Minnesota. Last summer, he was arrested near the airport in Los Angeles on suspicion of DUI. In early August he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with blood-alcohol content over .08 percent, which over the legal limit in California.

The Vikings then quickly had three wide receivers in for a workout, which fueled speculation they were possibly looking to trade Addison. That did not happen, and there has been no indication the Vikings are looking to part with the young receiver.

That said, a suspension from the league is expected to be coming for Addison sometime this offseason. It’s likely just a matter of when, and for how many games during the 2025 season.

Jordan Addison offered as possible trade target for top AFC contender

Last week, Matt Parrino of New York Upstate addressed a question about the Buffalo Bills possibily making a blockbuster trade before or during the draft. Honing in on a “defensive game wrecker” and a “speedy outside receiver”, he named a couple interesting names on the latter front.

“Two other names to monitor are New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave, who does come with a concerning concussion history, and maybe Minnesota receiver Jordan Addison. The Vikings just gave All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson a monster new deal and Addison will be extension eligible after the 2025 season. The Bills and Vikings have pulled off a trade in the past for a big-time receiver and Beane should look into Addison’s availability. From the outside looking in, Addison seems to have played his best ball when Jefferson was out of the lineup in 2023. He’s a vertical threat who can win at all three levels. I think he’d be a fun addition to the Bills offense.”

Rick Spielman, not Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, was Minnesota’s general manager when the Vikings and Bills made the trade that sent Stefon Diggs to Buffalo. So referencing that past deal as a pathway to similar trade talks now is a reach, at best.

It’s also fair to say the Vikings were more than willing to part with Diggs in 2020, and they are probably not quite in the same place with Addison right now.

Parrino may have some insight pointing him to the Bills possibly calling the Vikings about Addison, or maybe he’s just naming receivers he thinks they should pursue. Either way, the Vikings would have to have a plan to replace Addison if they’re going to trade him. If that plan reveals itself in some way, before or early in the draft, then the door would theoretically be open to a trade.

Unless something changes (another off-field incident?), and even if they draft a wide receiver, it’s incredibly unlikely the Vikings will seriously entertain trading Addison this offseason. But that won’t prevent teams from being interested, or making a call just to see if he might be available.
