Josh Allen has a lot of things working in his favor. This year, he defied the odds and went on to win the coveted MVP Award, got engaged to the woman of his dreams, and just as he was busy planning his wedding, he welcomed the news of becoming one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Allen received a $330 million extension to keep him in Buffalo for another six seasons with $250 million of that sum guaranteed. His deal made history as it offered a player the most guaranteed money in league history. With an average annual value of $55 million, he is second to Dak Prescott who makes $60 million a year.

The Bills will not need to worry about the quarterback position for the foreseeable future. Interestingly, he took a different approach than his peers. If it were any other quarterback in the league, they are most likely to have taken advantage of their performance over last season and used it to convince the team to become the highest paid in the league.

However, Josh Allen did not do that. He was asked the reason for signing a long-term contract at this stage when he could have waited for another

His humility can be seen from this. He has one goal for himself in sight – winning the Super Bowl.

The franchise took a risk when they drafted him but that has paid off. However, the other two teams based out of New York, the Giants and the Jets had shown interest in drafting him as well. However, the former chose Saquon Barkley and the latter opted to choose Sam Darnold over Allen. However, a snow storm forced him to cancel the meetings they had scheduled.

Just as he had hoped, the Bills picked him with the 7th overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Allen is the highest-drafted quarterback in Bills history. The chip on his shoulder was there from the start. He has improved constantly, is the gold standard for young quarterbacks, and is a team-friendly player. The quarterback’s MVP season came to an unfortunate end at the hands of a familiar foe in the AFC Championship Game. Allen’s Bills are 0-4 in the playoffs against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Once again the game was close with the latter beating the former 32-29.

Josh Allen is enjoying the off-season thus far. He has been spending time with fiancee Hailey Steinfeld and eagerly making plans for their wedding. Meanwhile, the Bills continue to make moves to free up as much cap space as possible. They released Von Miller and extended Damar Hamlin and LB Terrel Bernard. They will look to add more wide receivers to support the quarterback in the draft. One thing is certain, the Bills can focus entirely on building a Super Bowl worthy team now that their quarterback is locked-in.
