Judy Murray criticized the tennis authorities in Scotland for not doing much and wasting her son Andy Murray‘s legacy who retired at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Judy in an interview revealed how she wanted to build a tennis center in Dunblane, Scotland, to help the growth of tennis in the country.

She blamed the authorities for their ‘lack of cooperation’ after she reached out to them for help due to planning issues and rising costs. But with no help coming from the sports bosses, it ruined Judy’s $25.5 million project. Judy also slammed Tennis Scotland for not doing anything to celebrate Andy’s successes or when he retired.

Judy said she worked a lot to grow tennis in Scotland but is not getting support from those who are responsible for getting the job done. She explained that the governing body of the sport would not do much but ambitious coaches would as they can commit a lot to developing players.

The former World No. 1 is considered to be the greatest tennis player from Britain for he has won three Majors and also reached eight more Grand Slam finals. He is the only man to win two gold Olympic gold medals in singles (in 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics).

During that same interview with The Herlad, Judy Murray explained that through years of coaching young boys and girls, she has observed that both are different when they reach puberty as boys start to become stronger and faster.

This is why Judy thinks it’s unfair when trans athletes born as male are allowed to compete in women’s categories because of physical differences.

Judy also thinks younger female athletes are afraid of speaking up against trans athletes’ inclusion in women’s sports because it could affect their sponsorship deals. She advocated for ‘sensible debates’ and urged women to be stronger to deal with criticism.
