Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith gives the latest update on his contract extension negotiations.

The offseason continues with discussions surrounding the long-term status of Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Trey Smith beyond the 2025 season. On Wednesday, the Pro Bowler appeared as a guest on Fox Sports’ First Things First, speaking with Nick Wright and sharing an update on contract extension negotiations.

“Yeah, I just leave it all in my agents’ hands. I got Jimmy Sexton and Tory Dandy at CAA; they do a phenomenal job. We have Brett Veach, the whole front office staff; they’re phenomenal people,” said Smith. “I love working with them as well. At the end of the day, we just keep working at it. I’m just excited. I know I’m coming back.”

Chiefs Expecting RG Trey Smith To Depart In Free Agency

Smith was one of two players to receive the franchise tag in the NFL this offseason. The one-year short-term agreement is for $23.4 million and is fully guaranteed for 2025.

“So that’s gonna be the best part about it. Just ready to go back to work and get back on that field and treatment, trying to get back to that goal, getting the Super Bowl,” said Smith. “But I just leave everything to my agents, you know, let them do all that, all the delegation of that matter. But I’m just focused on being great and just being 1% better every single day, so I can bring my best to be the best player I can for the organization.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has emerged as one of the best offensive linemen in the league.
