Latest Update: Coach Sean McDermott Provides Information On RB Ray Davis, Still Treating Concussion.

Buffalo running back Ray Davis exited the Bills’ playoff game against the Denver Broncos with a concussion after taking a hit to the helmet on Sunday.

The rookie took a shot from Denver safety Brandon Jones in the third quarter as Davis extended his arms attempting to bring in a pass from Josh Allen.

On second-and-13, Allen flicked an errant pass for Davis on a wheel route that was too high. Jones lowered his shoulder but didn’t get his body low enough. Jones’ right shoulder collided with the left side of Davis’ helmet.

Davis immediately fell to his back and Buffalo center Connor McGovern ran over to Davis’ side and signaled for Bills’ medical staff to come to the field. Trainers initially brought out a backboard but Davis was able to walk off under his own power.

“I passed (Davis) in the hallway today. Had a chance to catch up with him and reached out to him and connected with him last night,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Monday. “From a human standpoint, he seemed to be in a decent spot. The medical piece, all I really know right now is he’s in the protocol.”

Jones, who was penalized for unnecessary roughness for a hit on a defenseless receiver, tapped his chest to take ownership for the mistake.

“Love y’all,” Davis posted on X at 6 p.m. Sunday.

“I hate what happened to Ray,” Allen said in his postgame press conference. “I feel like that doesn’t happen to often in this offense. I hate that feeling that I have for him right now. Got to see him. He’s doing OK.”

Davis was third on the Bills with 442 rushing yards in the regular season. He had two rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns.

Who is No. 22 on the Buffalo Bills?

Running back Ray Davis wears No. 22 on the Bills. Davis wore No. 1 in college at Kentucky and No. 20 at Temple.
