The cornerback signings just keep coming for the Detroit Lions.
They opened free agency by securing a CB1 for the next few seasons. Then things got quiet at the position for a little while.
That changed yesterday as the Lions signed former 49ers corner Rock Ya-Sin and then re-signed Khalil Dorsey.

Now they’ve gone ahead and made another move to add to their cornerback room.
Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox’s girlfriend reveled on her Instagram (via The Detroit Times) that he would be joining the Lions.
Maddox grew up in Detroit, but this will be the first time in a long time that his football career will take him somewhere outside of Pennsylvania.
He spent his college career with the Pitt Panthers and then spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Eagles after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 draft.
Maddox was a consistent contributor for the Eagles throughout his run with the team. As a slot corner, Maddox had a snap share of at least 65% in each of his first five seasons with the team.
Then he missed most of the 2023 season because of an injury. In 2024 he saw his playing take a big hit as he played just 33% of snaps, but Maddox also took on a much larger special teams role.
Now he’ll head back to his hometown to join a cornerback room that has gotten a bit more crowded over the past couple of weeks.
He’ll give the Lions some depth in the slot and championship experience the young roster can lean on.
He’s another solid veteran signing for the Lions as they continue to round out their roster.
