Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson wants to join ‘deadly’ forces with Myles Garrett.TS.THANHDUNG

Good luck trying to stop a tandem of Myles Garrett and Aidan Hutchinson.

With Garrett wanting out of Cleveland, all eyes turn to where he may wind up. Hutchinson has visions of Garrett joining him on the Lions, who are coming off a 15-2 season.

“If me and Myles were to pair up, that would be deadly,” Hutchinson said on “The Squeeze” podcast this week.

He’s not wrong.

Before suffering a broken tibia and fibula in the beginning of this past season, Hutchinson had already racked up 7.5 sacks in just five games. In his two seasons prior, he had a combined 21 sacks, 23 tackles for loss and three interceptions.

As for Garrett, he has tallied double-digit sacks in seven straight seasons, has received First-Team All Pro honors four of the last five and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.

Garrett has already heard Hutchinson’s pitch for joining him in donning the Honolulu Blue.

“I was talking to [Garrett], we were at the [NFL Honors] just talking about what could be,” Hutchinson said.

The two certainly aren’t strangers. In addition to speaking at the NFL Honors, Hutchinson says they get along nicely and that Garrett even sent a text with his best wishes to the Lions star following his gruesome injury.

“He’s a good dude,” Hutchinson said.

While Garrett may have his preferences, it’s ultimately up to the Browns on where they trade Garrett, if anywhere at all.

“Although it’s probably unlikely, I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen,” Hutchinson said. “Our whole D-line would be just totally elevated. That’d be a scary defensive line.”

The Lions had tremendous success this season and earned the top seed in the NFC, but flopped in the playoffs against the Commanders. Following the season, their offensive and defensive coordinators, Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, departed for head coaching jobs.

Detroit’s Super Bowl window may be closing a tad, but a splash move for Garrett would bolster their expectations.
