MAJOR-BREAKING: Braves Welcome Back Fan Favorite Reliever Yet Again As Bullpen Turmoil Continues..TS.DHUNG.

The Atlanta Braves’ bullpen had a tough outing on Tuesday, with the Cardinals pulling away late in the game. Bullpen games are always a bit of a gamble, but this one served as a stark reminder of the consequences the Braves are facing this season after neglecting their bullpen during the offseason.

While Atlanta does have some valuable relief options, and there’s hope that Raisel Iglesias will eventually find his form, there are a few bullpen arms currently getting significant innings who frankly shouldn’t be seeing that much action on a team with serious playoff aspirations like the Braves.

It’s clear that the Braves recognize the need for change, and one such adjustment came early on Wednesday when they brought Jesse Chavez back from the minors once again. To make room, Nathan Wiles was optioned to Gwinnett, and Nacho Alvarez Jr. was moved to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.

The Braves officially selected right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez to the major league roster and transferred infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. to the 60-day injured list. In a corresponding move, the team optioned right-hander Nathan Wiles to Triple-A Gwinnett after his MLB debut on Tuesday night, which saw him struggle.

At this point, it seems almost routine that Chavez will be involved in some form of roster move at least once a month. Although he’s in the twilight of his career and likely only has a shot at being effective in a Braves uniform, it’s hard to deny that he’s become a constant in the bullpen. While there’s a chance Chavez may be done as a productive reliever, it’s hard not to appreciate the wild ride he’s provided throughout his career.

The move to place Alvarez on the 60-day IL is worth noting. With the Braves’ ongoing shortstop issues, Alvarez had a real opportunity to compete for playing time in 2025. His wrist injury, initially believed to be short-term, now seems to be more serious, and it’s unlikely we’ll see him on the field until at least the summer.

As for Wiles, after a rough debut outing, he’s the clear choice to be sent down. However, he could still be a useful spot starter or bullpen option in the future, and heading back to Gwinnett will allow him to continue building on his solid minor league season.
