Anyone who has watched the Los Angeles Dodgers this year is well aware of Max Muncy’s struggles at the plate. Through 85 plate appearances, Muncy’s familiar hit tool questions have been extremely pronounced, with a .178/.282/.247 line and nary a home run to be found. After what was a truly frustrating sweep at the hands of the Cubs this week, one fan decided to loudly place blame on Muncy. That fan now may have a mortal enemy.
Heckling is nothing new, especially for big market teams that have been around a long time. Fans are passionate people, and some of them express that passion in some pretty aggressive ways.
That vitriol is usually reserved for rival players, but guys on the home team who aren’t pulling their weight are far from immune, as Muncy just found out.
After the Cubs series, the Dodgers were loading up on the team bus outside Wrigley Field and encountered a group of fans yelling mostly positive things as the players came out. However, when Muncy started to get on the bus, one fan decided to hurl insults and expletives at him, resulting in Muncy staring the fan down and nearly letting the intrusive thoughts win.
This is really disappointing to see, from a Dodgers ‘fan’.

You expect this type of shit (abusing your own players) from toxic Yankees or Mets fans.
Whoever this loser is, do better, or toss away your Dodgers cap.

It should go without saying, but no fan should act like this. If a guy on your team isn’t playing well, boo as much as you want and voice your displeasure online if you must. Going to the team bus so that you can act like a complete fool towards that player in-person surrounded by other fans, and possibly their families, is gross. Go be a human toilet somewhere else.
Also, if you must make a fool of yourself, there has to be a better target than Muncy, who looks like he could have walked over there and tossed that guy a city block away without breaking a sweat. For as long as Muncy stopped and stared at the guy, he certainly had to be thinking about something like that.
Things didn’t escalate further than that to anything actually physical, or even something similar to what happened with Tommy Pham’s fan altercation recently, and that is definitely for the best.
Based on the look that fan got, he has to be going to sleep at night thankful that Muncy didn’t jog over there to respond, and that there seemed to be some fans between the two to make it less tempting for Muncy. Hopefully he is smart enough to realize that if he is going to run his mouth about a player, he may not want to be within earshot.
