Micah Parsons on status of contract talks with Cowboys: ‘There is a plan in place’-HN

FRISCO, Texas — Neither Micah Parsons nor the Dallas Cowboys are giving any thought to a round of trade speculation that surfaced on Super Bowl Sunday, a schematic that isn’t entirely different from that experienced by CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott one offseason ago; all involved remaining keyed in on working toward a potential contract extension.

And, if it’s up to Parsons, it’ll land sooner than later — something he’s long declared he’d like to see happen, though he also has no plans on holding out of 2025 training camp to force the issue. The all-world pass rusher recently sat down with owner and general manager Jerry Jones to lay the groundwork for what will inevitably be an exceptionally complex, and lucrative, contract.

Following a heartfelt morning on the eve of Valentine’s Day, spent with Make-A-Wish children at the Great Wolf Lounge in Grapevine, Parsons gave insight into where things stand at the moment.

“Oh, it’s good, you know? It was good,” said Parsons of their most recent dialogue. I really have a lot of respect for Jerry. We have great conversations all the time. There’s definitely a plan in place, but we’ll just see how everything plays out. There’s been no progress yet, but I’m pretty confident that something will happen, so we’ll see.”

Time and again, and then again and again, the Cowboys’ front office has hammered home their unequivocal want of extending Parsons as part of a triumvirate of cornerstone talent that also features Prescott and Lamb — the latter recently sounding off on trade speculation regarding Parsons that dominated social media on Super Bowl Sunday.

“Y’all aren’t tired of this?” Lamb said. “Every offseason, top of the charts. Let’s just win ball games and that’s with 11!”

It appears everyone inside of the building understands the “plan” going forward, leaving time to tell when a new deal for Parsons might land and what it will look like, the four-time Pro Bowler also stating he has no demand of making the largest possible coin, something that should help grease the wheels further.

As it stands, Parsons and the Cowboys are on the same page in what will ultimately be the next chapter of his already record-setting NFL career in Dallas.
