Micah Parsons Slams Dallas Cowboys Management: “I don’t want to sit back and watch other teams build and…”-kid

With less than a month before the start of free agency, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons obviously won’t be on the open market, but it serves as a key date for how the team around him could look in 2025.

Historically inactive with the big players in free agency, the Cowboys seem destined for a similar approach this offseason after Jerry Jones’ comments in New Orleans last week that he sees this offseason to be “in line” with others. However, Parsons is hoping that Jones and the front office finds some aggression in adding talent to the team around him.

“The talent is there, we just got to be aggressive the same way [other teams] did,” Parsons said. “I don’t want to sit back and watch other [teams] build and build and us stay the same. Definitely some call to action. I want to see us become aggressive and get some players that will come in and make an impact. I want to see us bring back our own players, that’s just as important. Let’s see what we can do there.”

Obviously, a big part of the team’s offseason financial plans include what they plan to do with Parsons’ potential extension agreement. Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Parsons could earn a deal that would make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

While he has said that it’s not important to be at the top of that list, he has said multiple times that he hopes it gets done in a timely manner so the team will have the resources available to be active in free agency.

“There’s been no progress,” Parsons said on an extension. “But I’m pretty confident something will happen. We’ll see.”

The offseason kicked off with Parsons meeting with Jerry Jones at the Cotton Bowl to talk about a variety of topics. As the two grow closer professionally, Parsons is confident in what is ahead.

“I really have a lot of respect for Jerry,” he said. “We have great conversations all the time. There’s definitely a plan in place to see how everything plays out.”

Parsons was available on Thursday following an event for the Make-a-Wish Foundation at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. After competing with kids in bowling, laser tag and a football throwing contest, he sat back to acknowledge the fight being shown by some of the strongest kids in the North Texas community.

“The spirits of the parents, the spirits of these children, you can’t tell that they’ve been through anything,” he said. “For me, it’s just all about the kids, having an impact and just being around them. I felt their energy rise when I came around. It was a lot of fun.”
