New York Jets to Sign $6.5 Million Detroit Lions Star After Hiring Aaron Glenn in Proposed Trade.-HN

The New York Jets have secured their new head coach, recently announcing former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn for the role. However, Glenn’s arrival in New York may not be the only piece the Jets take from Detroit, as they could also target one of the Lions’ free agents this offseason.

According to Justin Fried of The Jet Press, the Jets may pursue Lions pass rusher Marcus Davenport in free agency. Glenn has coached Davenport in both New Orleans and Detroit, making him a logical fit for New York’s defensive needs.

“The only Lions free agent to have played under Aaron Glenn on multiple teams is Marcus Davenport,” Fried explained. “Davenport’s career has been plagued by injuries, but when healthy, he’s shown his potential, including a nine-sack season in just 11 games with the Saints in 2021.”

Jets Predicted To Steal Lions $6.5 Million Star After Aaron Glenn Hire

Over the last two seasons, Davenport has been limited to only six games due to significant injuries. Despite these setbacks, Fried believes the Jets should consider him as a potential addition to their defensive line. Given his injury history, he isn’t expected to draw major interest on the free-agent market, which could make him a low-risk, high-reward signing for New York.

If he stays healthy, Davenport could help shore up the Jets’ defensive front, even if only as a short-term solution for the 2025 season. Should Glenn be eager to reunite with his former player, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Jets make a strong push for him in free agency.
