NEWS: Eagles just created another nightmare scenario for Patrick Mahomes after beating Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX-HN

Heading into Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had just one loss which kept him up all night.

“The Super Bowl vs. Tampa Bay,” Mahomes said earlier in the week, recalling the Chiefs’ 31-9 Super Bowl LV loss to Tom Brady in 2021.

Philly set the tone very early with their infamous “Tush Push” play as Jalen Hurts punched in a touchdown on the one-yard line in the first quarter.

Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean followed Hurts’ touchdown with a pick-six in the second quarter and wide receiver A.J. Brown hauled in a 12-yard touchdown to end the first half.

The points kept coming after halftime with Hurts connecting with wide receiver No. 2 DeVonta Smith for a 46-yard touchdown. Jake Elliott was also 4-for-4 on field goal attempts throughout the win.

Philly’s defense also dominated with six sacks, one forced fumble, and two interceptions.

Hurts finished the night 17-of-22 for 221 yards through the air and two passing touchdowns. He also rushed for a Super Bowl record of 72 yards and one score. Those numbers were more than enough for him to win the Super Bowl MVP.

“I couldn’t do any of these things without the guys around me,” Hurts said after winning his first Super Bowl ring. “We had a special group this year. We were able to learn from the past and get some nice new pieces, and get over that hump.”
