The Dallas Cowboys are entering their first season with Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach as he replaces Mike McCarthy. With Schottenheimer, he will have to navigate through a season with high expectations once again for the Cowboys, and have to get them back on track. Unfortunately for Dallas after the 2025 NFL Draft they still have a few glaring issues on their team that could hold them back from achieving this in 2025.
One of those glaring issues is at the cornerback position, as they still have Trevon Diggs working back off injury. Their room is crowded with names like Kaiir Elam, Shavon Revel, and Caelen Carson behind Diggs and DaRon Bland, but Revel is coming off a severe injury, and the rest are unproven talents. The Cowboys must make sure their secondary is up to par for the season to full succeed, and how they do so is by trading for Jaire Alexander.
THIS IS A PREDICTION, NOT A REPORT
Dallas Cowboys Trade for Jaire Alexander
As Trevon Diggs works his way back from his ACL injury, it appears as though he may start the season on the Physical Unable to Perform list, PUP. Diggs would then be out for at least the first four games, and potentially more to start the season. That would put immense pressure on DaRon Bland to succeed, especially after he suffered his own injury last year and struggled when he came back.
The Cowboys must get a cornerback opposite of Bland that can take pressure off him, and be someone that Dallas can rely on to be an impact in the secondary. For them they could call the Green Bay Packers and get a deal done by trading for Jaire Alexander.
As the Packers and Alexander remain at odds, it provides the ideal opportunity for the Cowboys to get this trade done. With Alexander’s coverage ability he can even elevate the Cowboys’ secondary, and once Diggs returns, having Alexander and Diggs also provides future reassurance at the position as Bland is also set to be a free agent next season. No matter what, having a cornerback the caliber of Alexander in the secondary will pay off immensely for Dallas.
