NFL insider gives update on Ronnie Stanley’s contract talks with Ravens.THANHDUNG

The Baltimore Ravens, for the second straight season, made the playoffs as the AFC North division winner but were bounced before achieving their ultimate goal of taking home another Lombardi Trophy.

This offseason, general manager Eric Decosta and head coach John Harbaugh have a lot of work to do, as they’ll need to determine which of their more than 20 pending free agents to keep around for the 2025 season and beyond.

One of those Ravens set to hit the open market at the start of the new league year is veteran offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. However, the two sides are still hoping to get an extension done before that happens.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that it’s believed that a resolution is in the near future.

“The sense out of Indy is that the Ravens and left tackle Ronnie Stanley can agree to terms on an extension in the coming days,” Fowler wrote. “That’s hardly a slam dunk, but there’s a sentiment to try to make that happen. Some inside the league are projecting that deal to land somewhere between $21-23 million per year.”

Stanley, 30, played collegiately at Notre Dame from 2012-15, earning Consensus All-American honors in his final season before the Baltimore Ravens made him the sixth-overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

Since then, Stanley has been the team’s starting left tackle, appearing in 104 games over nine years and making two Pro Bowls. The only significant time that he missed came from 2020-22 when he suffered multiple ankle injuries that cost him 31 games during that stretch.

In 2024, Stanley’s second Pro Bowl season of his career, he started all 17 games, earning a 71.0 overall grade (39th of 141 qualified tackles) from Pro Football Focus. He also received a 79.6 pass-blocking grade (21st) and a 63.4 run-blocking grade (63rd).

While there will be intriguing options for the Ravens to consider in free agency, via trade or in the draft, Stanley is still playing well and is familiar with the system. They only have $12 million in cap space, so they’d have to make some moves to make room for an extension, but having Stanley protecting Lamar Jackson’s blind side is worth it.
