The Philadelphia Eagles were able to beat the New York Giants, 20-13, on Sunday with third-string quarterback Tanner McKee as their starter along with several other backups in the game.
The Eagles went into the matchup planning to rest many starters, though they had no choice with quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has been in concussion protocol since he took a brutal hit in Week 16.
After sweeping New York to end their regular season, head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed Hurts was present at the team’s walkthrough on Friday and said he was “progressing through the protocol,” but didn’t give more details.
“Guys, he’s progressing through the protocol,” Sirianni said with a sarcastic laugh when a reporter asked if Hurts was still dealing with the concussion. “We’ve talked a lot about that. I respect your questions. I’m going to answer them all, but yeah he’s progressing through the protocol.”
Hurts has now missed the last two weeks of practice and games due to his concussion. Hopefully, the much-needed rest has given him plenty of time to make a full recovery for the Birds’ playoff run.
The Eagles will host Green Bay Packers on Saturday, Jan. 11 in the NFC wild card round.
