Even though Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is no longer playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, he still remains close to some of the people on his former team.

Take for example Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby, who is done for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season due to an ankle injury.

In a post on Instagram, the 27-year-old Crosby announced that he will need surgery to address his ankle issue, thus ending his 2024 season.

“As much as this pains me to write, I will not be playing the rest of the season,” Crosby wrote. “Second time this year getting rolled up on the same ankle and now it will require surgery. As much as it pains me to not go to war with my brothers and for the fans, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I have absolutely zero regrets with my process, my approach and my discipline to this game.”

Many fans and football personalities immediately offered supporting messages for Crosby after his statement, with Jacobs telling his former teammate “God speed brudda” in a comment.

There is a strong connection between Jacobs and Crosby, and that’s not just because they played for years on the same team.

For one, Jacobs and Crosby both entered the NFL via the same draft; Jacobs was taken by the then-Oakland Raiders in the first round (24th overall) of the 2019 NFL draft while Crosby was selected by the Raiders in the fourth round (106th overall).

While Crosby was taken much later than Jacobs, he has long proven himself as a star in the league, having been selected to three Pro Bowl iterations. Jacobs, on the other hand, became a two-time Pro Bowler with the Raiders before he left Las Vegas to sign with the Packers in the last offseason.
