I Put Us in a Bad Spot' - Patrick Mahomes Breaks Silence After Super Bowl 59 Loss to Eagles

The Kansas City Chiefs were blown out 40-22 in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles, ending their hopes of becoming the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champions.

Patrick Mahomes took responsibility for the team’s shortcomings in a message posted to social media after the game ended.

“I let y’all down today,” Mahomes wrote in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter). “I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it.”

Sunday’s contest certainly wasn’t Mahomes’ best. His final stat line may not look too bad – he completed 21 of 32 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 25 yards on four carries with a fumble – but it’s worth noting that most of his production came after the Chiefs fell behind 34-0.

At halftime, Mahomes had a passer rating of just 10.7, on pace to be the fourth-worst by a starting quarterback in Super Bowl history. As such, it’s little surprise the quarterback seemed displeased with his overall performance following the game.

Nonetheless, Mahomes was greatful to Chiefs fans for their “love and support” during the team’s third consecutive Super Bowl run.

He also closed his post with a vow to the Kansas City faithful.

“We will be back,” he wrote.
