Pittsburgh Steelers captain strongly reacts to Aaron Rodgers’ free agency.THANHDUNG

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of a quarterback after Justin Fields signed with the New York Jets and Russell Wilson remains a free agent.

If you ask longtime captain Cam Heyward, he’s ready for the saga to be over.

“I’m tired of talking about the quarterback situation,” Heyward said on the “Not Just Football” podcast.

The Steelers have been connected to Aaron Rodgers. But it’s still unclear whether the 41-year-old will play in 2025 or retire.

Heyward was asked if he’d help recruit Rodgers to Pittsburgh, or potentially go on a darkness retreat with the four-time NFL MVP.

“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap,” Heyward said. “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple, that’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers. If you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”

Because of Rodgers’ uncertain future, it appears other NFL teams like the New York Giants have held off on signing another free agent quarterback until he makes a decision.

NFL insider Josina Anderson noted that a source told her the Steelers feel they’re “getting closer” on their quarterback situation, with their optimism being geared toward Rodgers.

The Steelers signed Mason Rudolph earlier this month, they’re still in need of a starter. If Rodgers goes elsewhere, Pittsburgh could turn its attention to trying to re-sign Wilson, or another veteran like Joe Flacco or Jameis Winston.
