‘There’s no place better to do it than right here in Kansas City’ – Andy Reid on Chiefs’ recent success and legacy. HTX

We are in the midst of an all-time great run by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Coming off back-to-back Super Bowl wins and three of the last five, the Chiefs are now striving to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Other recent accolades include 12 straight winning seasons, nine AFC West division titles in a row, and appearing in the AFC Championship Game in each of the last six years.

It all started upon the arrival of Andy Reid, who became Kansas City’s head coach in 2013. With Reid running the show and having Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, it’s wonderous to think how much more they could accomplish as long as they’re together with the Chiefs.

Here’s what Reid had to say when he was asked by the media on Friday if he thinks they are leaving a legacy similar to the previous historic NFL franchises.

“Listen, I mean there’s no place better to do it than right here in Kansas City, but when you’re in the middle of it, you really don’t think about it,” Reid said. “You’re thinking about the next game. I mean, that’s just how this business is. When you look in the rearview mirror, then you normally get your tail kicked so you have to be careful of that. We’re just trying to keep pushing forward but at the same time, we know we have great fans, I don’t ever want to slight that part. That’s an – GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium’s an unbelievable place to play with the support of GEHA as part of this thing too. We – the thing I enjoy the most about the present is for however great this thing is, these guys are so humble, and they work so hard, and I appreciate that part from a coach’s standpoint.”

That mindset from Reid and his players is in part what has made them so great. They have an appetite for success, and they don’t hang their hat on past accomplishments. It’s difficult to keep guys determined and motivated when they’ve had a lot of success, but Reid and his coaching staff find a way to do it each season.

Even when K.C. won the Super Bowl last year, the first thing that multiple players had to say was how they can’t wait to do it again next year. If the Chiefs can achieve the three-peat, they’ll have a strong argument for being the greatest dynasty in NFL history.
