Player Texans Just Cut Ties With Already Signed With New AFC Team-HN

After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round last month, the Houston Texans started signing multiple practice squad players to reserve/future deals.

The Texans ultimately signed 13 players to future deals, but veteran fullback Andrew Beck was among the four players who didn’t get a contract. Beck re-joined the Texans in late November after they cut him in late August ahead of the 53-man roster deadline.

After being let go by Houston, Beck joined the Green Bay Packers a few days later, signing to their practice squad. The veteran fullback appeared in three regular-season games with the Packers.

However, Beck’s time in Green Bay ended quickly as the Packers released him in late October. When the veteran returned to Houston he was immediately placed on the practice squad but was elevated twice to the active roster in the regular season and playoffs.

The veteran fullback did not receive a reserve/futures deal, which allowed him to seek another opportunity. According to Aaron Wilson of KRPC-2, Beck signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets.

Wilson did not specify if Beck got a reserve/futures deal from the Jets, but did not mention tight end in his tweet. The former Texans player started his NFL career as a tight end with the Denver Broncos.

Texans Already Cut Ties With 4 Players This Offseason

In his three-year stint with the Broncos, Beck had 14 receptions (23 targets) for 159 yards and a touchdown. After leaving Denver, Beck converted to a fullback in his first season with Houston in 2023.

Beck received some opportunities in the passing game as a fullback, posting 11 receptions (13 targets) for 55 yards and two touchdowns. During that season, the veteran had a crazy kick return touchdown for 85 yards, which no one expected.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if Beck can stick with the Jets as they made a monumental change last month, naming Aaron Glenn as head coach.
