Randi Mahomes is one proud mama. On Sunday, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared an emotional post on social media that took viewers on a trip down memory lane with her NFL-star son.
“Having a nostalgic moment… and spring break is bringing back all the memories from traveling with sports to team hangouts to tournaments,” Randi said in the video shared on Instagram. “Every jersey tells a story. This quilt is a reminder of all the hard work, dedications, and dreams along the way.”
In the video, the Chiefs star’s mom showed off the special quilt she had created, which featured over a dozen of his former jerseys and logos of the sports teams he repped growing up.
Football hasn’t always been Patrick’s first love.
Before becoming the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick was an aspiring baseball player in Texas. He played shortstop for a team in Tyler, Texas and even competed in the Junior League World Series.
He was a three-sport star in high school and played basketball, in addition to football and baseball.
Patrick eventually turned his focus to football and was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
During the sweet video clip, Patrick’s mother held up the custom-made quilt she had stitched together to commemorate his impressive sports journey.
“This is something I had made for Patrick,” she said during the clip.
“I gave it to him and then I kind of took it back after he got back home from college, because I was scared he was going to lose it,” Randi recalled. “It’s just fun to have. One day I’ll give it back to him.”

The Chiefs star’s mom said she’s “so proud” of her son’s journey.
Randi’s gained plenty of attention over the years for sharing special family moments on social media in support of her son.
She’s frequently seen at NFL games supporting Patrick.
After the Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl, Randi shared a carousel of photos of herself at the event on Instagram.
Despite the loss, Randi shared how proud she was of Patrick.
“Not the ending we wanted, but so incredibly proud of Patrick and this team. No matter what, I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader son,” Randi wrote in the caption.
Raising an NFL athlete
In another post on Instagram on January 27, Randi recalled the unique experience of raising an NFL athlete.
As a busy sports mom, many of Randi’s weekends with Patrick growing up are a “blur” today, as there were countless tournaments, road trips and “naps in the car.”
“But the best part are those quiet conversations and moments where it’s just me and my kids,” Randi said. “If you’re going through this right now, I’d say to cherish the ride, even when it feels exhausting. These moments are truly priceless.”
