Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady retired from football after the 2022 season just two years removed from helping deliver the franchise’s second Super Bowl title.

Brady played in New England for 20 seasons before joining the Bucs, winning six championships. When you spend 23 years in the NFL, you’re age will at some point become a topic of conversation, especially for the younger players late in your career.

During a recent visit with Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson on the Calm Down Podcast, Tampa Bay offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs took a slight jab at Brady, with whom he played for the first three seasons of his career.

“Yeah, Tom was my QB. They were like ‘Don’t let anybody touch him’, and I was like ‘Alright I’ll try my best’ — he’s fragile, he’s old. Not that old, not that old!”

Wirfs quickly put Brady’s age into perspective.

“He’s like, two years younger than my mom. Sorry, sorry, sorry!”.

Wirfs then gave the biggest compliments to Brady, and crediting the legendary quarterback for helping him early in his career.

The former Iowa Hawkeye said Brady urged him to take care of his body, which Brady was religious about, extending his career he believes.

Wirfs is well on his way to becoming a legend of his own.

In just five seasons, Wifrs has been named First-Team All-Pro twice, Second-Team All-Pro once and been named to four Pro Bowls. That’s on top of his Super Bowl championship alongside Brady in 2020.
