REPORT: Former Miami executive gives Dolphins fans a new reason to ignore him with shocking new revelation. nhathung

The Miami Dolphins are set to select at the 13th position in the 2025 NFL Draft, unless they make a trade. A former executive has expressed a strong opinion on the direction they should take with their pick. It’s possible that Mike Tannenbaum, based on his understanding of Chris Grier’s mindset, is making this call for the Dolphins.

Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum Joins Bruin Sports As Senior ...

Tannenbaum, who once served as Miami’s executive vice president before handing over the general manager role to Grier in 2016, now works as an analyst for ESPN, though some critics claim he’s not excelling in this new role.

Earlier this offseason, Tannenbaum worked with the New York Jets as an outside consultant for their searches for a head coach and GM, collaborating with another ex-Dolphins executive, Rick Spielman. On Tuesday, Tannenbaum unveiled a fresh mock draft, suggesting the Dolphins should target a specific position. But is it the right choice?

In his latest 2025 NFL mock draft, Tannenbaum predicts Josh Simmons will join the Miami Dolphins. Simmons is a talented left tackle, but the Dolphins already have Patrick Paul in that role.

While opinions on Paul remain divided, and there’s uncertainty about Terron Armstead’s future, drafting Simmons seems illogical since many don’t see him fitting as an interior lineman, which the Dolphins truly need. Tannenbaum also notes Simmons’ penalty issues (26 in 32 games) and his knee injury that ended his 2024 season.

In Tannenbaum’s mock, the top two offensive linemen have already been selected by the 13th pick. This pick appears to be a stretch for a team that should prioritize other areas if the draft unfolds as Tannenbaum predicts. Defensive tackle is a significant gap for Miami, with Michigan’s Kenneth Grant picked two spots later, while top tight end prospect Tyler Warren went at the 14th pick.

Although Simmons is seen as a first-round talent, most project him as a mid-to-late first-round choice, likely around the 25th pick. One thing about Tannenbaum is clear: he wasn’t shy about investing in the offensive line. Laremy Tunsil was a fantastic addition until Grier decided to trade him.
