Report: “Strong indications” Jaire Alexander is done with Packers-HN

Despite being under contract through the 2025 season, Jaire Alexander’s chances of staying on for the Green Bay Packers are looking shaky. According to ESPN.com’s Rob Demovsky, there are clear signs that Alexander may have played his final game for the team.

Packers’ Farewell

The main reason the Packers are considering letting go of Alexander is his persistent injury problems. Over the past two seasons, Alexander has only played in 14 games and in his last four seasons, he has only played in 34 games. Those numbers reflect the lack of consistency for a player who was once expected to be a mainstay on defense.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has acknowledged that there has been frustration on both sides of the ball. When asked about Alexander’s situation, Gutekunst stressed that the team needs players who can consistently contribute on the field, something Alexander has failed to provide.

The Payroll Burden and the Packers’ Options

Financially, Alexander has a cap hit of nearly $25 million in 2025, a number that fits his inconsistent status. If the Packers decide to cut him outright, they’ll get back more than $6.8 million in salary. However, waiting until after June 1 to do so would save more than $17 million, giving the team more financial room to bolster its roster.

Jaire Alexander’s Future

If he leaves the Packers, Alexander remains a sought-after talent thanks to his cooking skills when healthy. Several teams looking to bolster their defense would be interested in him, especially those with ample payroll space and willing to take a risk on a player with an injury history.

Although not yet decided, the prospect of the Packers and Alexander parting ways is becoming increasingly clear. Fans will have to wait and see if the team chooses to cut the merger or find a trade partner to get value from one of the cornerbacks once considered the NFL’s top talents.
