Quarterback Russell Wilson remains one of the biggest names left in NFL free agency after the legal tampering period officially opened on Monday.
After a solid 2024 season, starting 11 games and completing 214-of-336 passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 95.6 passer rating, a number of teams could still be interested in the veteran.
Even with such a big decision to make, Wilson has still been focused on some other free-agent moves around the league and, on Wednesday, reacted to the Minnesota Vikings agreeing to terms on a contract with safety Harrison Smith.
“One of the All Time Greats. 22,” he said.
Wilson has a point, too, as Smith has had an impressive 13-year career so far, accumulating 1,126 tackles (15th among DBs), 48 tackles for loss (ninth among DBs), 43 quarterback hits (tied for first among DBs), 37 interceptions and 96 pass deflections.
Along with those impressive numbers, Smith has also been named to six Pro Bowls, one First-Team All-Pro, one Second-Team All-Pro and even finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2017.
Now, though, it seems as though it will be Wilson’s turn to ink a new deal next, as he has visits lined up with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday and the New York Giants on Friday, meaning he could find his new home before the end of the week.
