The grandfather of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has passed away just a few weeks after entering hospice care, as confirmed by the NFL star’s mother on Friday. Randi Mahomes announced her father’s passing, Randy, on Instagram.
Her post read, “It’s difficult to express the feeling of holding my father’s hand as he ascends to Heaven. I know he’s in a better place. I love you, daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23.” This sorrowful news for the Mahomes family comes shortly after the Chiefs faced a devastating defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
Patrick Mahomes’ Grandfather Allegedly ‘Holding On’ In Hospice Care To Witness His Grandson Compete In Super Bowl LIX. Last month, Randi shared in her Instagram Stories that she was “at a loss for words” following her father’s admission into hospice care for an undisclosed reason.
At the NFL Honors last week, Randi mentioned to People that she believed her father was “hanging on” with the hope of seeing his grandson make NFL history by clinching three consecutive Super Bowl victories. “I know it has been significant to him,” she stated. “And I think he’s holding on because he wants to witness his grandson achieve something remarkable or simply watch him play.”
