Should the Chiefs give Kareem Hunt another chance with the team in 2025?

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the best teams in the NFL, with a formidable offensive system led by Patrick Mahomes. However, one notable question is being asked: Should the Chiefs bring back Kareem Hunt in 2025?

Kareem Hunt’s journey since leaving the Chiefs
Kareem Hunt was one of Kansas City’s brightest stars when he led the NFL in rushing yards during his rookie season in 2017. However, in 2018, the Chiefs cut Hunt’s contract after a video of his violent behavior surfaced. Since then, Hunt has joined the Cleveland Browns and has become an important part of the running duo with Nick Chubb.

Although he is no longer the RB1 in Cleveland, Hunt still shows strong running ability and is a great support in backfield situations. He finished the 2023 season with solid numbers, showing that he still has value for a team as ambitious as the Chiefs.

Do the Chiefs need a RB like Hunt?

The Chiefs’ current offense relies heavily on Patrick Mahomes and a host of weapons like Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice. However, their running back position is still not really stable. Isiah Pacheco is doing well as the primary RB, but the Chiefs still lack depth at that position, especially with a tight schedule and injury risks.

Hunt could bring experience, the ability to run in the red zone, and be a good pass-catching option for Mahomes. Signing Hunt on a short-term, reasonable-salary deal could help the Chiefs strengthen their lineup without spending too much money.

Risks and Controversies
While Hunt’s talent is undeniable, his past remains a big question mark. Bringing him back could be controversial within the team and the fan base. The Chiefs have been very careful in building their team image, and such a decision would need to be carefully considered.

Additionally, Hunt is no longer at his peak. At 30 years old (in 2025), he is unlikely to be able to carry the same workload as before. If the Chiefs want to invest long-term, they will probably look for a younger option in the NFL Draft or the free market.

Conclusion: Should or Shouldn’t?
Reuniting with Kareem Hunt is an option to consider, but it is not a top priority for the Chiefs. If they need an experienced, cheap RB who can contribute immediately, Hunt is a viable option. However, given his off-field history and age, the Chiefs will likely look for other options with less risk.

What do you think? Does Kareem Hunt deserve another chance at Arrowhead?
