The San Francisco 49ers are experiencing a brutal offseason, losing multiple key players in free agency. The reason? The team is preparing to extend Brock Purdy, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

While it’s impossible to replace all the talent leaving the Bay Area, the 49ers have made one notable addition to their depleted secondary. According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, San Francisco has signed former New York Giants safety Jason Pinnock to a one-year deal.

Pinnock isn’t a stranger to Robert Saleh, the 49ers’ new defensive coordinator. Saleh was the New York Jets’ head coach when Pinnock was drafted in the fifth round in 2021. Now, they reunite in San Francisco, where the defense is in desperate need of reinforcements.

Despite coming off his best NFL season, Pinnock wasn’t retained by the Giants after they signed Jevon Holland (3 years, $45.3 million).
