The Detroit Lions had a huge win against the Green Bay Packers in week 14. That win included a super gutsy call from Dan Campbell in which the Lions went for it on fourth-and-1 from the Packers 30-yard line with the game on the line.

In the end it worked out and the Lions won. There were a lot of the talking heads that praised the gutsiness, but then there were a lot that, seemingly on purpose, went the other way. You learn to ignore the Acho’s and the Wright’s of the world, but it was hard to ignore former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi because his complaint made the least amount of sense.

That’s the part right there. “There’s no more knee caps to bite. You’re on top. Start playing like it and start coaching like it.”

There’s a giant problem with that and I know Lions fans don’t like to hear this when it’s said. I don’t even like to say it, but this team has realistically achieved nothing. Why would they stop fighting as if they had?

Let me clarify. The division title was huge and the playoff wins were too. Believe me when I tell you that I cried in the press box after that win over the Rams last January. A 12-1 record with 11 straight wins is huge too. But these are all accomplishments that you expect a good team to make. They haven’t done the big thing yet. They haven’t won it all. That is all that matters in this league at the end of the day.

There are absolutely still kneecaps to bite and this team should 100% still consider themselves underdogs. They should definitely continue to play like it’s 2022 and nobody believes in them for as long as they can because nobody wants to be remembered as the team that had some really good seasons, but didn’t win it all.

You don’t want to be the Sacksonville Jaguars or the old Norv Turner Chargers. In 20 years nobody is going to remember that the 49ers were really good for like a decade, because at the end of the day they didn’t win the Super Bowl. They’ll remember the time the Chiefs beat them for their back to back titles.

It’s so easy to just say “hey! we’re the good team now.” You see teams do that. You then see those same teams fall short of their goals. The Lions have not done that and they’ve continued to have the same mentality since 2022 and it’s working. Why in the world would they stop that?
