Texans Legend Shares Surprise Stefon Diggs Info Amid Split Speculation-HN

One of the biggest storylines for the Houston Texans this offseason will be the impending free agency of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The veteran wide receiver is set to become a free agent after his first year with the Texans was derailed by a torn ACL.

Texans fans were excited to see Houston trade for Diggs last season. They believed Diggs could take Houston’s passing game to another level and complement Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

However, that didn’t come to fruition as the Texans only saw Diggs for eight games. The hope is that Diggs wants to return and see if he can help this offense reach new heights, especially with C.J. Stroud entering his third season.

Former Houston Texans Andre Johnson had some intel on Diggs’ thinking with free agency on the horizon and what he said should excite the fanbase. The Hall of Fame wide receiver was recently at Travis Scott’s celebrity softball game and was asked about Diggs.

“You always want to see a great player come back,” Johnson said (via Chancellor Johnson). “I think he loves the city and loves the organization from the feedback I’ve gotten from him.”

Based on what Johnson said, there’s some hope the star receiver will run it back with Houston in 2025. Before tearing his ACL in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts, Diggs produced 47 receptions (64 targets) for 496 yards and three touchdowns.

Texans Legend Shares Thoughts on Stefon Diggs' Free Agency

If Diggs doesn’t get hurt, he likely crosses the 1,000-yard threshold for the seventh consecutive year and the Texans might’ve made a deeper playoff run. In the AFC divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs, we saw how desperately they needed the big play ability of Dell and Diggs on the outside.

Spotrac projects Diggs’ calculated market value at a one-year deal worth $13.5 million. Given his injury and age, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Diggs get a one-year contract. However, Houston could opt to give him a two-year deal, especially with Tank Dell coming off another devastating leg injury.

Regardless of what happens with Diggs, the Texans must make wide receiver a position of need in free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft.
