Texans predicted to lose $22 million All-Pro to Dallas Cowboys-HN

The Houston Texans were the unfortunate target of the injury bug in 2024. After a 2023 season that left them in need of more weapons following a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the playoffs, Houston made a splash by acquiring All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills. However, the aforementioned injuries derailed what was supposed to be a jump forward.

Diggs tore his ACL in the middle of the season, and Tank Dell suffered his second straight catastrophic knee injury at the tail end of the regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving Houston without a compliment to Nico Collins in the postseason.

Diggs is set to hit free agency in March, and Seth Trachtman of Yardbarker expects him to join his brother, Trevon, in Dallas with the Cowboys.

“Diggs had a disappointing 2024 season due to injury, and could be a free agent bargain after two down years,” Tracthman writes. “The prospect of playing with his younger brother, Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs, could be enough to entice Diggs to move across the state as he tries to rehab his value.”

The Texans re-worked Diggs’ contract after acquiring him, allowing him to hit the open market this March. In hindsight, it now looks like a smart move now that Diggs is coming off a serious injury that may prevent him from being the player he once was. Even if Diggs would want to come back to Houston, it feels like a smart move for the Texans to look elsewhere.
