The Kansas City Chiefs made a surprise trade on Day 1 of the 2025 NFL draft to move down one pick in the first round, from the No. 31 selection to No. 32.
The reigning AFC champions found an unlikely partner in the Philadelphia Eagles to make the trade-down possible.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chiefs received the No. 32 and 164 selections in exchange for the No. 31 pick.
Philadelphia used the pick it acquired from Kansas City to land Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Jihaad Campbell.
This move will help the Chiefs balance out their battery of picks on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL draft. Before making this deal with the Eagles, Kansas City only had four picks to make on the final day of the Annual Player Selection Meeting, three of which were set to be made in the seventh round.
Now, the Chiefs officially control a fifth-round pick to be used between their selections in the fourth and seventh rounds.
