The controversial former Kansas City Chiefs star and playoff hero is set to join the Seattle Seahawks in a surprise deal.

According to a report on Wednesday from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is signing a one-year, $5,500,000 deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

Valdes-Scantling started his career with the Green Bay Packers in 2018 before joining the Chiefs in 2022, where he helped the team win back-to-back championships in Super Bowl LVII and LVIII.

The former South Florida Bull’s most notable moment in Kansas City came when he caught a 33-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes against the Baltimore Ravens in the 2023 AFC Championship Game that helped the Chiefs advance to Super Bowl LVIII.

After winning Super Bowl LVIII with the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling spent last season with the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints, but he was unable to achieve the same level of success he had found with Mahomes.

Though the embattled receiver’s time in Kansas City was largely plagued with on-field issues that could not be overlooked, Valdes-Scantling was a key member of the Chiefs’ dynastic run in 2022 and 2023.
