The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a playmaker that we only got a glimpse of in 2024 🔗⤵️ TS.DHUNG.

Chiefs wide receiver Marquise (Hollywood) Brown (5) catches a pass during training camp at Missouri Western State University.

The Kansas City Chiefs are re-signing wide receiver Hollywood Brown to a one-year contract worth up to $11 million, per a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Specific details of the contract are unknown at this time, but “worth up to” is the key language here. Given Brown’s injury history, it’s probably safe to say that the deal features plenty of incentives based on availability and production.

This was a logical move to make for the Chiefs. Brown looked great during training camp last summer, but unfortunately suffered a sternoclavicular joint injury on the first play of a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Initially, it was believed that he would only miss the first few games of the regular season, but it was later determined that the injury was serious.

Brown spent the first 14 games of 2024 on injured reserve. He worked hard in order to make it back for the stretch run, and he fit right in. Brown caught nine passes for 91 yards during the two regular season games he played in, and recorded five receptions for 50 yards during the postseason.

If he can stay healthy, Brown has a chance to be productive and a difference maker in coach Andy Reid’s offense. However, injuries have been an asterisk for Brown, as he has only played one full season throughout his six-year NFL career. At just 27-years-old, the speedy WR should have a lot of good football left in him.

Brown can be a deep threat, as well as a yards-after-catch machine. His best season came in 2021 with the Baltimore Ravens when he caught 91 passes for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. Hopefully in 2025 we can get a full season of the trio of Brown, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy like we hoped to see in 2024.
