The Green Bay Packers opened their regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 6. Four months later, they will open their postseason appearance against the exact same team.

The 24-22 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday determined that Green Bay will have the seventh seed in the NFC for the second consecutive year — and a win wouldn’t have mattered, because the Washington Commanders beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-19.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the second seed, regardless of what happens on Sunday Night Football between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.

Therefore, the Packers will face the Eagles in Philadelphia in the wild card round.

Back in Week 1, the Packers and the Eagles played in São Paulo, Brazil. It was an extremely close game, and the Eagles went ahead late to win 34-29. That was a costly game for Green Bay, because quarterback Jordan Love injured his knee in the final drive. He missed the next two games (the Packers still beat the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans with Malik Willis) and wasn’t 100% for several more weeks.
