Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris as her pick for the 2024 U.S. presidential election prompted a wave of online reactions.

While some commenters praised Swift for taking a political stand, others lambasted her for her decision. One of Swift’s biggest detractors? Elon Musk. The owner of X (formerly Twitter), Musk responded to the pop star’s endorsement on his social media platform, in addition to firing off racist and xenophobic posts about Haitian immigrants eating pets.

“Fine Taylor … you win …” Musk tweeted early Wednesday. “I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”

Countless social media users rushed to Swift’s defense. And for a moment, it appeared as if her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was one of them. A screenshot that appeared to show Kelce firing back at Musk for his harmful claims made the rounds on the Twittersphere on Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m 6-5 and actually play football. The fact I went to college and got a degree and worked hard might be lost on you,” Kelce allegedly wrote. “I don’t play backgammon but I do play chess. I could also twist you like a pretzel.”

Did Travis Kelce respond to Elon Musk?

Kelce has not yet responded to Musk’s comments about Swift.

The post that piqued social media users’ interest was debunked by X’s community notes feature, which revealed that the screenshot was digitally altered. Moreover, Kelce hasn’t tweeted anything since Sept. 9, when he reposted a commercial for Garage Beer featuring his older brother Jason.

Travis Kelce also chronicled Jason Kelce’s debut on “Monday Night Countdown,” ESPN’s precursor to the Joe Buck- and Troy Aikman-led “Monday Night Football” broadcast.

The Kelce brothers did mention Musk — or rather, his car company Tesla — in a recent episode of their “New Heights” podcast, which came out this week. But that episode was recorded before Musk had his say on Swift’s political leanings for this year’s presidential election cycle.
