The San Francisco 49ers will once again be without Trent Williams and will also be minus rookie running back Isaac Guerendo for their Week 16 matchup with the Miami Dolphins, but there is still a chance they could have Nick Bosa available for a South Florida homecoming.
Williams was ruled out for a fifth straight game with an ankle injury, with Kyle Shanahan having conceded earlier in the week that the All-Pro left tackle’s season could be over.
Meanwhile, Guerendo will miss out after sustaining a hamstring injury in the Week 15 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams that all but ended their season.
But there is hope for Bosa, who made his return from hip and oblique injuries in that game against the Rams but missed Thursday’s practice.
Bosa was back in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed in his press conference, while linebacker Dre Greenlaw has the same status after his long-awaited return from the Achilles injury he sustained in Super Bowl 58, indicating he will be able to play for the second successive week.
On top of that, the 49ers have also cleared rookie safety Malik Mustapha (chest) to return after missing the Rams, while defensive tackle Maliek Collins is also available having returned to full practice on Friday. Collins missed the practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday through illness.
Williams’ stand-in Jaylon Moore will once again be able to deputize at left tackle. He practiced in full on Friday and is off the injury report having battled a hip injury.
