UPDATE: Bills Sign Safety Who Might Beat Out Damar Hamlin.THANHDUNG

There have been plenty of high-profile names that have signed with the Buffalo Bills over the last week to kick off free agency.

Joey Bosa, Joshua Palmer, and even Michael Hoecht are well known in league circles and should be able to produce right away for Buffalo as they try to take the next step in their contention plans.

Two newer signees, Dane Jackson and Kendrick Green, have starting credentials, too.

Buffalo also made an underrated move this week, though, to improve their thin safety room.

For Washington Commander safety Darrick Forrest.

Forrest played in just 10 games last season as a special teams ace recording 13 tackles on the season. His best season came in 2022 when he started in 11 games, recorded nine pass deflections, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

Now, with a fresh new deal with the Bills signed and delivered, Forrest is confident to compete for a starting job.

“My sense on the Bills is that they have a great culture, they have a great team,” Forrest said. “They love winning. And I can always feel that the people around here, they really love each other.”

Forrest will compete with Damar Hamlin for playing time as well as second-round rookie last season Cole Bishop. He is supremely confident, though, that his talent and skills will stand out during that competition.

“I am a high-flying guy that can create turnovers,” Forrest said. “I’m a guy that brings a lot of energy. I feel I’m a leader. I’m a guy that likes to go out there and create mistakes. So, I feel like I’m a problem solver.”

As Buffalo turns their attention to finding lower-priced talent, Forrest could be one of their most underrated moves of the offseason.
