UPDATE: Buffalo Bills re-sign veteran linebacker Nicholas Morrow.THANHDUNG

With injuries mounting at the linebacker position, the Buffalo Bills re-signed veteran linebacker Nicholas Morrow. Alaina Getzenberg at ESPN reported it on Monday.

Morrow, 29, originally signed with Buffalo in March. He made the team’s initial roster and was part of the squad for the first 13 weeks of the season. He appeared mostly on special teams, playing on 182 snaps — or 65% of the team’s total during that timeframe. He also played on 44 defensive snaps, or 6% of the team’s total. Morrow had just three tackles on the season before being released.

With Matt Milano dealing with a groin injury as he works back into game shape — he’s played in just three games after missing over a calendar year thanks to knee, fibula, and pectoral injuries — Dorian Williams dealing with an elbow issue, and Baylon Spector dealing with issues in both calves, the Bills needed depth at linebacker.

Morrow is a veteran presence who’s familiar with the defense, and he wasn’t semi-retired and preparing to go on an RV trip with his family like A.J. Klein was last season when the Bills brought him out of retirement to bolster depth at playoff time.

Hopefully, the Bills will be healthy enough where Morrow isn’t going to need to play every down against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hopefully, the Bills will be healthy enough where Morrow won’t need to be the primary coverage player against future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce. Morrow is likely back to provide snaps on special teams.

Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters on Monday afternoon that Spector’s injury situation currently leaves him as week-to-week. Spector, 26, has played in 11 games this season, making four starts. He’s totaled 40 tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one quarterback hit, and one fumble recovery across 291 defensive snaps and 157 special teams snaps so far in 2024.
