When the 2024 regular schedule was released back in May, the Week 15 game between the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills was easily seen as a big game in the late afternoon Eastern time window. As both teams have delivered on high expectations this season, there was speculation the league could move the game to a Monday night slot.
But, as expected, CBS protected the game with all their mite. Their pregame show will be on-site to make it a marquee event in Detroit, with their top broadcast team covering the game (Jim Nance, Tony Romo, Tracy Wolfson). So a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff it is on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions brought back their black alternate uniforms this year. They wore them for the first time this season in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks on “Monday Night Football.” Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network reported back then that he knew the second game where the Lions would wear the black uniforms, which has been easy to think was going to be this week against the Bills.
On Monday, John Maakaron of SI.com reported the Lions would be wearing their “Motor City Muscle” alternate uniforms this week against Buffalo. That backed up what Rogers had previously hinted, pending an official announcement from the team.

It wasn’t quite made “officially official” on Monday evening, but the Lions basically confirmed the black uniforms are coming back out for Sunday’s game.
During his appearance on “Costa and Jansen with Heather” on 97.1 The Ticket Tuesday morning, head coach Dan Campbell was asked if he can confirm the social media buzz that was out there about the black jerseys.
“Well, social media’s always right…I think the decision was made back in May”, Campbell said, thick with sarcasm. “There’s a chance we’ll have black, or blue, or gray, or white.”
Campbell was being coy about the uniforms for this week, pending the official announcement. But we know the black uniforms are coming back on Sunday, with fans at Ford Field surely donning black jerseys if they’ve got them.
