UPDATE: Good news for RB Isaac Guerendo in the 49ers’ Week 17 injury update…ts.dhung.

The San Francisco 49ers’ practice schedule began a day later than normal with a Monday night showdown against the Detroit Lions coming up in Week 17.

How 49ers rookie RB Guerendo uses limited college usage as motivation

Their practice report opened with some good news on the injury front. Running back Isaac Guerendo returned as a limited participant after missing all of Week 16 with a hamstring injury.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday after the team’s Week 16 loss to the Miami Dolphins was optimistic about Guerendo’s chances of practicing early in the week. A limited session isn’t as good as a full participation, but it was expected with the RB working back from a hamstring issue. Signs point toward him being available barring a setback in practice leading up to Monday night.

Other good news included an upgraded status for defensive end Nick Bosa. He was listed as a full participant as he continues working through hip and oblique injuries.

Here’s the full practice report from Thursday:

Did not participate

LG Aaron Banks (knee)
DE Robert Beal (ankle)
OL Spencer Burford (calf)
LB Dre Greenlaw (calf)

Greenlaw and Banks are both out for the rest of the year according to Shanahan. Burford has a chance at playing Sunday, but Shanahan on Thursday said it will be a close call on whether he’s available.

Limited participation

S Ji’Ayir Brown (ankle)
DE Leonard Lloyd (shoulder)
RB Isaac Guerendo (hamstring)
OT Colton McKivitz (knee)

This is a little concerning since neither Floyd nor McKivitz were on the pre-practice list from Shanahan. Floyd dealt with a shoulder issue in Week 17, but it’s unclear when McKivitz got hurt. If he’s unable to play Sunday it would leave San Francisco with only two healthy starting offensive linemen.

Full participation

LB Tatum Bethune (knee)
DE Nick Bosa (hip, oblique)
DT Jordan Elliott (knee)
S Talanoa Hufanga (wrist)
LB Dee Winters (chest)

The 49ers opened Bethune’s 21-day practice window so he was able to participate after missing time with a knee injury. He could return and contribute right away with Greenlaw getting shut down for the season.
